Singing superstar Beyoncé has revealed she suffers from psoriasis, a skin condition that causes dry patches, scaly or itchy skin.

The Crazy in Love hitmaker made the admission in a new interview when talking about her new haircare line, called Cécred.

She spoke to Essence about how her relationship with her hair is ”deeply personal” and said how when she was younger, her dad used to apply oil on her scalp to treat the skin condition.

“I have many beautiful memories attached to my hair. The relationship we have with our hair is such a deeply personal journey,” she said.

“From spending my childhood in my mother’s salon to my father applying oil on my scalp to treat my psoriasis – these moments have been sacred to me.”

The singer said that the haircare line “celebrates healthy hair for all women”.

Beyoncé also spoke about the time she cut her hair into a pixie cut back in 2013 and said it symbolised a “very big emotional transformation and metamorphosis”.

“So much of my identity as a performer has been connected to flowing hair,” she said.

“Cutting my hair off was me rebelling against being this woman that society thinks I’m supposed to be.”

According to Healthline, psoriasis is “a chronic autoimmune condition that causes the rapid buildup of your skin cells. This buildup of cells causes scaling on your skin’s surface”.

Treatment includes retinoids, salicylic acid, medication – while some sufferers might seen an improvement with a better diet and no alcohol.

It comes after Beyoncé dropped two new songs following her appearance in a Super Bowl ad.

The Verizon ad which aired just after halftime, featured the pop superstar attempting and failing to “break the internet,” before saying at the very end of the ad “okay they ready, drop the new music.”

Her two new songs, 16 Carriages and Texas Hold ‘Em are now available on streaming service Tidal.

She also announced that her new album Act II will be released on March, 29.

Fans online were speculating that Act II could be a country album, due to the song Texas Hold ‘Em and the fact that the singer has been spotted in multiple western themed outfits recently.

Beyoncé hasn’t released new music since July of 2022, when she treated the world to her critically acclaimed album Renaissance.

She then took the album on tour, with her first show kicking off on May 10, 2023 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The tour concluded in October of 2023, with her last show in Kansas City, Missouri.

And while we thought the singer had been taking a well-deserved break for the last five months, it seems she may have been busy in the studio recording new music.
