A STUDENT has picked up a new world record after blitzing a breakneck top speed on a toy car.
Marcel Paul, who is taking a degree in electrical engineering in Germany, modded out the miniature motor to achieve a frankly terrifying pace.

The tiny, bright red vehicle is only powered by an electric motor, but still managed to hurtle along the track to claim the top spot in the Guinness World Records table for the fastest ride-on toy car (modified).
In a video uploaded to the organisation’s Instagram profile, Marcel can be seen taking it for a spin.
Kitted out in a crash helmet and full racing-style bodysuit, he had to lie almost flat astride the Porsche-badged toy.
The only visible change to its design was a speedometer, ignition switch and a set of handlebars which had been bolted on top of it.
A push of the on switch was greeted with a violent whirring as the high-powered electric motor kicked into gear.
Once he hopped on, Marcel simply pressed the accelerator switch and was off like a shot.
A side-on angle of his straight-line launch showed him whooshing past the camera at the sort of speed drivers would be more likely to see on the Autobahns of his homeland.
That, in fact, turned out to be the case as he shattered the previous record, achieving an unbelievable 92.24mph.
Terrifyingly, it is not clear whether he installed any brakes, as the end of the clip showed him using the soles of his heavy-duty racing boots to skid the car to a stop.
Social media commenters were amazed by the effort.
One wrote: “Finally a good world record.”
Another added: “That’s wild.”
However, some were less on board.
One concerned user cried: “Hell no that looks dangerous.”
Marcel himself was delighted with the effort, which was the culmination of a 10-month research period.
But the world record was just a bonus for him, as he said all he had wanted to achieve was to beat the 88mph that the DeLorean DMC-12 needed to time travel in 1985’s Back to the Future, according to mad scientist Doc Brown.
It comes after we gave readers a look inside Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer’s amazing car collection, which he stores hidden away in a “secret cave”.
Meanwhile, a woman who nabbed a £2 toy car worth £200 at a charity shop revealed how to spot a hidden gem.
