Ex-champ has ‘answered the call’ to headline UFC 300 as coach admits Adesanya is ‘in camp’ for Dana White’s super card

ISRAEL ADESANYA and his team have “answered the call” to headline UFC 300, it’s been claimed.

Mixed martial arts’ premier promotion have yet to officially announce the main event for their historic April 13 card in Las Vegas.

Over the last few weeks, UFC bigwig Dana White has teased a “crazy” showpiece bout for the card – with many believing a grudge match between Adesanya and rival Dricus Du Plessis could top the Sin City showdown.

And The Last Stylebender’s head coach Eugene Bareman has revealed he’s now “in camp” after the UFC brass called him about potentially headlining the event.

He told The MacLife: “I can say that we are ready to fight. Israel is ready to fight.

“He is in camp, has been in camp, and we answered that call, and we assessed it because Israel is coming off an injury.

“And we decided as a team that, yeah, let’s get into camp.

“There is a strong possibility that this fight could happen on this date and let’s act as if we are fighting on that date.

“So we are ready to go.”

Bareman admits the opportunity to top the bill of the historic card is too good for former middleweight champ Adesanya to pass up.

He said: “This is the biggest event in UFC history.

“If it means Israel having to push his schedule and double down on his rehab and get better.

“We’re just not willing to be the guy that will disappoint the world and the company if they need us.

“We are just not going to do that… So we’re ready to go, brother.”

MMA fans around the world are patiently waiting for the promotion to reveal the headliners for their eagerly-anticipated show.

And UFC President and CEO White revealed earlier this week that he could announce the card’s main event TOMORROW MORNING.

He told Kevin Iole: “I will probably announce it at the press conference this weekend.”
