TESCO shoppers are rushing to buy an air fryer that fits a whole chicken in – and it’s a bargain.
A lucky customer bagged herself the Tower gadget for less than half price down at her local supermarket this weekend.

Rachel Burns, from Royston, Cambridgeshire, shared her steal of a purchase online after picking up the box which had a yellow reduced sticker on.
The air fryer, which has five cooking methods and a rotisserie, was down to £47 from £119.
Alerting other bargain hunters of the price cut before the shelves were empty, Rachel wrote on Facebook: “Absolute bargain in Tesco Royston this morning!
“Little air fryer oven for £47 down from £119. Plenty left on the shelves!”
The post soon became popular with users urging people to buy the cooker.
One person hailed the gadget saying: “It’s brilliant…we wore out the rotisserie on ours!”
Another agreed: “I’ve got this one it’s fab!,” while a third wrote: “I love mine.”
A fourth was shocked at the price. They commented: “That is a bargain, we’ve had ours over a year and paid £125 for it.”
While air fryers are understandably healthier to cook food in, the Tower one also promises to use 50 per cent less energy
It comes after The Sun discovered it was cheaper to run an air fryer than it was an oven.
A 2kW oven costs around 55p to run for half an hour, or 27p for an hour’s use.
You could run a 1,000W air fryer for an hour for 28p less.
And 3.5kW own costs around 96p to run for half an hour and 48p for an hour.
This makes an air fryer once again the cheapest option.
Benefits of cooking with an airfryer
Air fryers have been hailed by many people as a healthier way to cook meals.
This is because of the lack of oil that is required to power one, with the gadget instead recreating the crispiness of fried food without the fat.
Foods that are deep fried are generally higher in fat and while an air fryer doesn’t deep fry food, it is still being fried as opposed to being baked or roasted.
A study published in 2015 by experts at the University of Murcia in Spain showed that chips made in an airfryer had less fat than their deep fried counterparts.
Another paper, published in 2017, found that air fryers actually reduced the healthy fatty acids present in certain fish such as sardines.
Experts have said that if used correctly, air fryers could do a lot of good.
Dr Rachel Ward a GP from Woodlands Medical Centre, Didcot said: “It a uses much less fat that deep frying food which is an obvious health benefit.”
Ovens aren’t the biggest energy suckers in the home, but they do guzzle a fair amount of electricity, especially if you use them often and for long periods of time.
An air fryer will be smaller and more energy-efficient than a full-sized oven, so you could save money on your bills if you used it for your midweek meals, and save the oven for a single batch-cooking session at the weekend.
