What Taylor Swift will hear in her earpiece for three hours straight at the Australian Eras Tour concerts

It’s not long now until Aussie fans will get to belt out 44 Taylor Swift tracks across three hours as the pop star’s Eras Tour hits Down Under.

But while the crowd is treated to Swift’s stellar vocals across all her different musical eras in her career, what does the singer herself hear?

A TikTok video has revealed the secret sound playing in Swift’s earpiece for three hours. And no, it’s not a backing track for her songs.

For her hours long performance, Swift is apparently treated to the monotonous sound of a metronome in her in-ear monitor.

The fan-edited video has overlayed the sound of the metronome in Swift’s earpiece over a clip of the singer performing her hit song The Man during her show.

After being counted in to start the song, the beat of the metronome is then there to help Swift keep the pace she should be singing at.

”Pov: You’re listening to Taylor Swift’s in-ear monitor,” the video was captioned.

In a viral moment from one of her show’s in August, Swift seemingly seemed to confirm the in-ear monitor is to keep her on beat after experiencing sound issues.

While performing Love Story, the singer tapped her earpiece to alert the sound technicians that there was a problem with her monitor.

Swift then was captured watching her bassist Amos Heller play the track to help her stay on the beat while the sounds was being fixed.

Other artists such as Ela Ozturk have confirmed they listen to a metronome in their earpiece while performing.

Many fans were quick to share their disbelief in the video’s comments section after discovering Swift listens to a metronome for the whole show.

“METRONOME?? IN HER EAR FOR 3 HOURS??” one flabbergasted fan wrote.

“This would drive me crazy listening to clicking for 3 hours straight,” another claimed.

”My entire life I though the in ear monitors were telling them the lyrics of the song,” someone admitted.

“When people are like “omg all you do is sing” and this comment section alone proves that just the metronome is too much for many to handle,” a fourth person commented, seemingly praising Swift’s onstage multitasking.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour first kicked off in March of 2023 in North America, and most recently made its way to Tokyo.

Now, after touching down at Tullamarine airport on Thursday, the singer is set to begin the Australian leg of her Eras Tour on Friday, February 16 in Melbourne at the MCG.

The star will play a total seven shows across Australia in Melbourne and Sydney only.

As Aussie fans ready to don a touch of sparkle and some DIY friendship bracelets for Swift’s tour Down Under, one of the most exciting aspects of the shows is wondering what two surprise songs from her discography the pop star will sing.
