The 76-year-old has agreed to leave the South London club following a terrible run of form.

And the Palace brass are on the brink of appointing former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner as his replacement.

Hodgson was set to announce his departure from Selhurst Park at a pre-match press conference this afternoon.

But the former England manager was taken ill and rushed to hospital.

Assistant Palace boss Ray Lewington told reporters at the club’s Copers Cope Road training ground this afternoon that Hodgson was all right.

Hodgson is currently stable and talking to doctors and friends.

He was unable to walk unaided before he was admitted to the hospital.

It’s understood that he’ll undergo further tests to assess his condition.

Roy Hodgson’s record at Palace

2017-21
Games 162
Win percentage 33%
Goals per game 1.2
Goals conceded per game 1.5

2023-24
Games 38
Win percentage 32%
Goals per game 1.3
Goals conceded per game 1.6

Palace chairman Steve Parish accompanied Hodgson to the hospital.

Parish has come under increasing pressure to end Hodgson’s second stint as manager following a woeful run of form for the club.

The South Londoners have only won ONE of their last six matches in all competitions.

They currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League table, a mere four points above the relegation zone.

The alarming slip towards the drop zone has prompted Parish and the rest of the Palace brass to pursue free agent Glasner, who impressed during spells at Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Hodgson was hired in March last year to replace Patrick Vieira and quickly led Palace to safety.

That initial deal lasted only until the end of the season, when he was rewarded with a one-year contract.

Hodgson was originally in charge of Palace from 2017-21 and then said he was retiring from coaching.

He returned for a brief spell at Watford at the end of the 2021-22 season.
