Swish! Ben Affleck and his son, Samuel, had a ball during a father-son outing at the Tuesday, December 13, Lakers game.
The Argo director, 50, took his 10-year-old son — whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner — to watch the Los Angeles Lakers take on his hometown team of the Boston Celtics. The duo sat courtside at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with Affleck looking cozy in a white cardigan and a pair of jeans. Samuel, for his part, sported a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt. The pair ultimately watched the Celtics take home a victory.
The Massachusetts native and the 13 Going on 30 star, 50, also share daughters Violet, 16, and Seraphina, 13. The former couple, who wed in 2005, announced 10 years later that they had split. Their divorce was finalized in 2018 and they’ve since remained amicable coparents.
“It’s always a work in progress. Things come up between them, but they are committed to doing the best they can for the kids,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in February 2020. “They stay on top of things and have a lot of meetings and check-ins. They want to be the best parents they can for the kids. If they have differences, they keep it to themselves and don’t let it have an impact. They always put on happy faces for the kids and put their well-being first.”
While Affleck and Garner are used to the spotlight amid their Hollywood careers, they keep their kids’ lives relatively private. Violet, for her part, made a rare public appearance at a White House state dinner earlier this month alongside the Alias alum.
After a series of relationships with Lindsay Shookus and Ana de Armas, Affleck married former fiancée Jennifer Lopez in July and the newlyweds have made sure that their blended brood is a top priority.
“The transition is a process that needs to be handled with so much care,” the Marry Me star, 53, told Vogue in an interview published last month. “They have so many feelings. They’re teens. But it’s going really well so far.”
She added: “What I hope to cultivate with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me and my kids have a new ally in him, someone who really loves and cares about them but can have a different perspective and help me see things that I can’t see with my kids because I’m so emotionally tied up.”
Lopez — who shares 14-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony — and the Tender Bar star even included their five children in their second wedding ceremony in Georgia earlier this year.
“Ben made an impassioned speech professing his love for Jennifer and her kids and said the children are the blessing and gift that happened because they didn’t get married before and that is proof that everything happens for a reason,” a second source told Us in August. “It was a weekend full of festivities for friends and family and it felt like a fairytale. … It was very intimate and all about celebrating their love for one another and their family.”
