WWE star suffers serious injury as match is forced to be stopped following ‘freak accident’ during NXT taping

WWE STAR Shotzi Blackheart suffered a serious injury that forced a match to be cancelled on the company’s NXT show.

The 31-year-old, who has previously competed on Monday Night Raw and SmackDown, is famed for her entrance on a tank.

She turned up on this week’s episode of NXT to challenge NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria to a showdown.

The former NXT Tag Team demand for a championship opportunity was granted, and it was booked to take place on the following episode of the weekly programme.

However, despite the show not being scheduled to be broadcast until February 20, it was actually recorded last night.

But those in attendance who witnessed it have reported that Shotzi suffered a knee injury during the bout.

Fightful Select reports that it was caused when she hit her knee against the side of the ring after falling to the outside in a spot that was due to occur to set up a commercial break.

Unfortunately, Shotzi was unable to continue due to her injuries and the match was stopped.

Fightful’s Corey Brennan then gave more information, claiming that the star was unable to put any weight on her knee.

She also required assistance to leave the arena and get back into the dressing-room.

WWE nor Shotzi herself have yet publicly commented on the injury.

Shotzi, who has also gone under the ring name Pizza Cat, previously worked for SHIMMER Women Athletes and RISE Wrestling.

The Californian-based grappler was a finalist on WWE’s Tough Enough show, a reality TV series that saw participants undergo professional training and compete for a WWE contract.

Shotzi, who also enjoyed success as an alternative model away from the ring, previously made a guest appearance in the UK at a Lucha Britannia show in Clapham, London.

She signed a contract with WWE in October 2019.
