This weekend will see a main event bout between Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

White, 54, has previously admitted that organising the main event for UFC 300 has been an “interesting time”.

The event is set to take place between April 13 and April 14 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Las Vegas, Nevada.

He has now revealed that he will announce the much-anticipated headline and co-headline fights this weekend.

During an interview, he said: “I will probably announce it at the press conference this weekend.”

The main event on April 13 has already been announced with Chinese Weili Zhang clashing with compatriot Yan Xiaonan for the strawweight title.

For the main event on April 14, however, there has been plenty of speculation over who could be fighting.

Names such as former two-division champion Conor McGregor, Alex Pereira, Israel Adesanya and Dricus du Plessis have been touted as options.

However, du Plessis has pretty much ruled himself out of take on Adesanya in a title fight in UFC 300.

He has suggested that he needs more time to recover from his win over Sean Stickland during UFC 297 in January.

The South African has insisted that defending his title is “much more important” than being in the “milestone event”.

MMA‘s top promotion have yet to host an event in Africa, although White is keen to do so in the next few years.

And topping the bill of the first event on the continent would mean far more to Du Plessis than facing Adesanya at UFC 300.

He said: “The real milestone event will be UFC in Africa and more importantly, South Africa.

“I can’t even explain to you how long I’ll be willing to wait to make that happen and defend my belt on home soil.

“That’s history. UFC 300 is just a number. It’s not as massive as UFC Africa.”
