‘I’m not paying’ Amazon Prime users yell as another free perk is GONE following arrival of ‘annoying’ ads

AMAZON Prime Video subscribers have noticed that another perk is no longer free following the introduction of “annoying” ads.

The Jeff Bezos-owned online retailer and tech giant has felt the wrath of customers over a number of price hikes recently.

Last week, Ring – which Amazon owns – pushed up its subscription price by 43 per cent leaving some to consider scrapping the doorbell gadget.

The other big issue was the arrival of adverts on Amazon Prime Video.

Viewers have threatened to cancel their accounts after the firm introduced ad breaks, charging a £2.99 / $2.99 extra fee for anyone who wants to remove them.

“These ads on Amazon prime are so annoying,” one Prime user wrote.

However, it’s now emerged that ad-free access is not the only perk to disappear.

The company has now made its best Prime audio options a paid-for benefit too.

Secret trick to save money on Amazon Prime – and keep all perks

There’s a little-known trick that can help you avoid the ads without paying for it.

However, it’s only beneficial to people who subscribe to Prime just to watch TV.

Your normal Prime subscription covers everything from Video, deliveries and even storage to back up your photos.

But did you know there’s a cheaper package that allows you to only access Prime Video? So if you don’t need or want delivery from Amazon, it’s worth considering.

In the UK, it costs £5.99 per month – £3 cheaper than the full Amazon Prime subscription which is £8.99.

The no-ad fee is £2.99 on top, so effectively you’re paying the same amount as you used to.

There’s a similar offer in the US but it’s not as cheap, resulting in an overall discount rather than keeping your subscription cost the same.

Fewer perks but one way you can avoid the ads without paying more.

Only subscribers who pay the extra ad-free fee have Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos surround sound available.

Fans have not reacted well to the revelation on social media, describing it as “petty”.

“Amazon was already the worst streaming platform,” one person wrote.

“Now they’re just digging their grave even deeper.”

Another said: “I’m not paying extra, I’m broke.”

While a third commented: “Another reason to drop Prime.”

A spokesperson told The Verge: “Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos capabilities are only available on the ad free option, on relevant titles.”
