‘It seems to work better’ Amazon Fire Stick user says after discovering a quick fix for crashing TV app

A TV fan believes they may have found a solution to a lag and glitch problem affecting a popular streaming app on their Fire Stick.

Several users have complained on Reddit claiming that the Paramount+ app is “terribly buggy” via the gadget.

Paramount+ is home to a number of big hit shows, including classic and new Star Trek series, South Park and Halo, which has just launched its second season.

“All kinds of problems with this app for me, the device is not slow at all with any other app, quite the opposite, it’s quick,” a frustrated user wrote.

Months ago, viewers fumed about a similar problem, calling it “frustrating as hell”.

“I clear the app cache every once in a while when it gets REALLY bad, but I have never had the app completely work,” one person said.

“It routinely lags or skips momentarily, even though I have a wired gigabit connection.”

But for those having similar problems there might be a simple fix.

Reddit user willwar63, who posted the most recent complaint, said “it seems to work better” after making a quick switch.

According to another Amazon Fire Stick user, the trick is to turn off Paramount+’s 4K setting.

By putting it to 1080p instead, it apparently reduces any issues.

“Just as an experiment try changing the display settings on the Firestick to 1080,” Reddit user whyblate suggested.

“The Paramount Plus app is a resource hog.

“I was unable to watch any 4k or 2k programs, like any Mission Impossible movie, the app was laggy, glitchy and restarted a lot, until I changed that setting down to 1080.

“Every other app has zero issues with the 4k settings on the Firestick.

“When watching non-4k shows on the Paramount app it works fine other than an occasional glitch or lagginess.”

How to adjust Amazon Fire Stick video quality

You can adjust the video quality within your Fire Stick settings – but remember this will change for all apps.

To do this, go to the Settings and look for Preferences.

Select Data Monitoring and switch it on.

Go back and select Set Video Quality.

From here, change quality to either Good or Better.

Test to see if this improves any issues you were having.

If this doesn’t help and you’re seeing a specific error code, check out Paramount’s website for more.
