As he steps up his recovery from the injury, fans have been given a boost to their hopes of seeing him play again this term.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Timber has been included in the Gunners’ squad for the last 16.

Mikel Arteta’s side will face Porto home and away for a place in the quarter-finals.

Reacting to the news, one fan wrote: “Yesssss Timber is back!! Just give us the UCL trophy now.”

Another added: “Give us the UCL title already.”

A third supporter also commented: “Finally we’re winning the Champions League.”

Meanwhile, one more said: “Absolutely brilliant news as an Arsenal fan. Icing on the cake after beating Liverpool.”

Arsenal travel to Portugal for the first leg on February 21 before welcoming Porto to the Emirates Stadium on March 12.

It is still unknown whether Timber will return to the side before the conclusion of the first knockout round.

The 22-year-old made just two appearances before his injury after completing a £40million move from Ajax in the summer.

Arteta revealed in December that the Dutch international was “flying” with his recovery but would still be out for a “long time”.

Arsenal are understood to be hopeful he can return to action before the end of the season.

However, Timber’s comeback is not currently expected before April.
