Fans mock ‘same old Arsenal’ as they give away absolute ‘mess’ of an own goal after dominating first half vs Liverpool

ARSENAL were mocked by fans after conceding a “mess” of an own goal against Liverpool.

The Gunners opened the scoring in the Emirates clash through Bukayo Saka but let their lead slip on the stroke of half-time.

GettyFans mocked Arsenal for their sloppy defending[/caption]

And they only had themselves to blame as they failed to deal with a hopeful but inaccurate through ball from Ryan Gravenberch.

Luis Diaz was the intended target but his poor touch gave William Saliba possession, but he inexplicably tried to shield the ball back to goalkeeper David Raya.

But Diaz cleverly sneaked in front of the defender and got a toe on the ball, diverting it off Gabriel and into the back of the net.

There was nothing the Brazilian could do to stop the ball from trickling across the line as fans watching on mocked the Gunners.

One said: “Same old Arsenal ”

Another added: “Saliba man. What a clown”

A third wrote: “What kind of goal is this?”

And another commented: “A great mess of a goal.”

Arsenal bounced back after half-time and restored their lead thanks to a blunder from the Liverpool defence.

Alisson came out of his box to clear a long ball in behind the defence but completely mistimed his kick, presenting Gabriel Martinelli with the simple task of slotting the ball into an empty net.

The Reds goalkeeper did not cover himself in glory either for Arsenal’s third as Leandro Trossard poked the ball through his legs at the near post to seal a 3-1 win.
