Chilli Thomas (2001 – 2004)
Usher’s first high profile relationship was with TLC star Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas.
The R&B couple first met in 1993 after they were signed to the same recording label, but didn’t start a romantic relationship until years later in 2001.
The pair dated for a few years until eventually calling it quits in 2004.
Shortly after their breakup, Usher released his hit album Confessions, which many believed to be about his relationship with Thomas amid speculation he cheated.
However, the TLC singer put these rumours to rest in a 2013 interview with Us Weekly.
“All of those songs on Confessions, that was about Jermaine Dupri’s situation. Usher was just singing it,” Thomas said, adding she was in the studio when album was made.
“But people kind of bought into it, it was just the timing of our breakup when the album came out,” she said. “So people assumed that album was about us, but it was not,”
Speaking to People in 2023, Thomas reflected on her “chemistry” with Usher in the ’00s.
“We definitely had some chemistry,” she said.
“But working chemistry does not mean it works in your personal life. If we were working, it was great. But outside of that, we’re so different.”
According to People, the pair ultimately ended their on-off relationship due to “differing values and trust issues.”

Tameka Foster (2005 – 2009)
Usher was married to fashion designer Tameka Foster for two years from 2007 to 2009, after they reportedly began dating in late 2005.
Before starting a relationship with the R&B star, Foster was already divorced and a mother to three.
“He just accepted me for who I am. I have flaws, I have an attitude problem,” the stylist told Essence.com ahead of her wedding to Usher.
“Overall, I have issues that a person could either love or hate, but he accepted me completely. And every day he still treats me like we just met.”
The pair welcomed their first child, Usher “Cinco” V in November 2007. They later had a second son Naviyd Ely in December 2008.
Usher and Foster had a short marriage, divorcing in 2009.
Recently, TMZ claimed that the R&B singer is reportedly planning to sell his mansion that his ex-wife has lived in for the past few years.
Grace Miguel (2009 – 2018)
Not long after his marriage ended, Usher began a relationship with Grace Miguel, who would become his manager as well.
“I have an incredible partner and manager,” Usher told Billboard in 2014.
“She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career.”
“She’s someone who’s been able to support and understand all of who I am,” he said.
The couple secretly tied the knot in late 2015 and were married for three years before sadly calling it quits in 2018.

The pair confirmed they had separated in March 2018 with a joint statement shared to US media outlets.
“After much thought and consideration, we have mutually decided to separate as a couple,” the pair said.
“We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives,” the statement continued.
“The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward.”
Usher officially filed for divorce nine months later.

The pair first sparked romance rumours in 2019, and just a year later, they were expecting their first child together.
In September 2020, Usher announced the couple had welcomed their first daughter, Sovereign Bo.
“We are feeling blessed and full of love with the arrival of our beautiful baby girl, Sovereign Bo Raymond. “Isn’t She lovely” by Stevie Wonder on repeat ❤️ ❤️ ❤️,” he wrote to Instagram.
In 2021, Usher and Goicoechea subtly confirmed they were expecting their second child, showing off the music executive’s baby bump at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
In October, Usher announced the birth of their son – his fourth child – to Instagram.
