I used to be a Wales rugby star, but now I run my own sausage and bacon business

WALES Six Nations winner Olly Kohn is now a successful sausage and bacon business owner.

The former lock swapped rugby for pork after quitting professional sport in 2013.

And he has not looked back after setting up The Jolly Hog alongside his younger brothers Max and Josh.

The Jolly Hog sells a variety of meat products including bacon, sausages, burgers, ham and gammon.

According to their website, Kohn is the “top taster” of the brothers, with Josh chief sausage maker and Max the numbers guy.

The brothers have 13 employees at The Jolly Hog alone, with many more operating their chain of restaurants: Pigsty.

The Jolly Hog has sold its wares at events including Glastonbury Festival and Cheltenham Races and opened its Pigsty eatery in a converted shipping container in Wapping Wharf in 2016.

Kohn, 42, opened up the first official branch of Pigsty in Bristol in 2015 after gaining success with a pop-up version of the restaurant at events around the country.

Later that year their sausage products hit the supermarket shelf and they have since gone from strength to strength, with Jolly Cow and Jolly Chicken launched to increase the range of the company’s products.

Kohn has collaborated with popular high-street chain Honest Burgers and worked alongside former Masterchef judge Michel Roux Jr – a far cry from playing with Sam Warburton and Leigh Halfpenny.
