Posting the moment to Instagram, he captioned the post: “There’s been quite the rhinoceros beetle influx on my porch 😂”
“Okay so I’m on my veranda at home and look at what is just covering the veranda, these are rhinoceros beetles, and another one just flew through, hear that, hear those noises that they make isn’t that amazing?” Irwin said in his video.

With the big black beetles chirping away, he added: “That’s kind of like a territorial and predatory response. Look at them all, they’re attracted by the lights, they’re all flying around so when you pick ’em up and move them.., How’s that headgear that the boys have? There you go, woah!”
The video shocked fans, receiving over a thousand comments from followers including one from his mum Terri Irwin.
“I love the males with their big rhinoceros heads, and the females with their sweet faces!” she said, though other followers didn’t share the same sentiment.

Another user added: “Welp. So much for going to visit Australia one day. Guess I’m crossing that one off my bucket list.”
“That is horrifying and I would stay indoors forever,” another said.
Though rhino beetles look very antisocial, with large horns on their heads, they are harmless and can be handled safely, if anyone knows what they’re doing when it comes to Aussie wildlife, it’s going to be an Irwin.
A few followers shared some supportive messages, one saying: “So cool!! Thank you for sharing.”
