Convert any hatchback into a micro-camper in less than 10 minutes – there’s no mess involved

THIS is how you can convert any hatchback into a comfortable micro-camper in less than ten minutes with no mess.

A globetrotting YouTuber who goes by the name Faraway Porch shared their top tips to create the ultimate mobile home on a tight budget.

He used a Ford hatchback model to demonstrate a quick, easy and effective conversion using only a length of wood, some camping equipment and some basic plastic boxes.

The first thing he did was fold down the rear seats to open up a large flat space in the rear of the motor.

This left just enough room for four large plastic tubs to be stacked in the footwells as ample storage for all the bare necessities for your trip.

Similar boxes can be picked up for around £6 each on Amazon, with a set of five costing just over £33.

Placing lids on these allows them to line up with the folded seats and create a level, flat platform up to the backrests of the front seats.

On this, he placed a study tarp, a camping mat and a sleeping bag, creating a makeshift bedroom in the back of the car.

And the boot was filled by a large wooden board to act as a desk, kitchen counter and cooking space.

At a moment’s notice, the driver was able to pull out a camping stove and prepare his dinner, before clearing it away and using the excess space to extend his bed.

Light was provided by a pair of electric lanterns, one placed by the boot lid and the other hung on the hook where the rear passenger seat would have been.

Best of all, though, the car can be converted back to its original state just as easily, since no structural changes have been made.

This means rather than buying a motorhome, those looking to camp out for a couple of nights on a shoestring budget can simply use their daily driver without rendering it undrivable the rest of the year.

Social media commenters loved the handy hacks.

One wrote: “Hatchbacks are underappreciated marvels when it comes to sleeping in cars.”

Another added: “This is the best hatchback conversion I have seen so far….and I’ve seen a lot.”

And a third joked: “Who else is watching this because rents are skyrocketing?”

It comes after another driver revealed how he built an 80-inch microcamper from scratch, complete with a TV and kitchen.
