The Manchester United loanee picked up a yellow card in the 64th minute but his evening was set to get worse.

In the 94th minute, with the score 1-0, Amrabat was sanctioned again for a foul as the last defender.

The midfielder was initially dismissed with a second yellow card from referee Mahmood Ali Mahmood Ismail.

VAR then checked the decision and, after taking its time decided to call Amrabat back.

However the decision was not to rescind the yellow card so he could finish the match, but to instead send him off with a straight red card.

Even the linesman looked shocked at the decision as seen in the TV replays.

Fans saw the moment and flocked to social media to poke fun at the Moroccan.

One fan posted: “This is genuinely pure entertainment.”

Amrabat is not the only Man United star to have a tough Afcon tournament.

He has struggled to succeed at the Red Devils and is set to return to Fiorentina after the end of his loan following the success of Kobbie Mainoo.

Goalkeeper Andre Onana was dropped by Cameroon after making only one appearance.

Cameroon were knocked out in the round of 16 after losing 2-0 to Nigeria with Onana heading back to Manchester.
