I built a one-person micro camper from scratch… it’s tiny but I managed to fit a mattress, TV & mini kitchen

AN INGENIOUS builder has created his own micro-camper from scratch – complete with a mattress, TV and even a mini kitchen.

Drew, of the YouTube channel Drew Builds Stuff, made his tiny home on wheels using a trailer for the base with the hope that he’ll be able to “take it anywhere.”

Using a $400 trailer, which is roughly £310, Drew says he focussed on making the camper as light as possible to help with fuel economy when it’s towed by his car.

Built to be 80 inches long by 40 inches wide, which is roughly 2 metres by 1 metre, the mini camper uses a wooden frame with fabric insulation and plywood for the surface and roof.

It comes complete with wiring inside so it can be plugged into a battery or generator, allowing for elecricity to power the inside lights, a phone charger and even a small television.

It’s also street legal, with Drew installing brake lights and indicators at the rear.

Finally, he added carpet to the inside as a base for the mattress on top, and then finished the outside with a special black paint to help make it water-proof.

Then, Drew decided to paint it blue, with a black trim for the door frame and windows.

A small kitchen is attached to one of the sides, which folds down to reveal a small sink and cook-top.

Viewers on Drew’s TikTok page were left amazed by the build, although many found fault with the creation.

One person wrote: “I feel like it needs to be maybe half a foot longer with a storage box on your flat front outside – that would make it better.”

And another pointed out: “A small roof vent would have gone a long way for making it not a sweat box.”

This comes as a man showed off his amazing home on wheels inside a giant military truck – which has helped him save shedloads of money.

Elsewhere, a van-lifer living in the UK has showed how he solved the ‘bane of his existence’ with a clever window hack which helped him keep warmer in the winter.
