Huge Ninja Warrior-style park with swings & 13ft wall runs to open as abandoned casino to be made into tourist hotspot

A NINJA Warrior adventure park is set to somersault its way into a vacant Teesside casino site.

The theme park inspired by the hit ITV show has locations all over the UK with the new one set to open in Stockton-on-Tees.

Teesside Retail Park is set to welcome Ninja Warrior to the site of the former Rainbow Casino after it closed its doors in 2016.

Construction teams have reportedly moved into the site and put up a Ninja Warrior “coming soon” banner next to the piles of rubble.

The new course will be part of a wider redevelopment of the former casino site that will also see a 12-hole mini golf course.

Ninja Warrior UK has 18 venues around the UK including Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Chelmsford.

Athletes who have a go at the course must run, jump, and swing their way to the end.

Courses even have the famous but tricky section which saw many a top athlete come unstuck: the wall run.

The show was axed in 2023 but could be returning this year.

The programme, hosted by Ben Shephard, Chris Kamara and Rochelle Humes, first aired in 2015 and is a fan favourite.

The family-friendly show sees competitors take on tricky obstacle courses in a series of rounds, increasing in difficulty.

A Teesside Park spokesperson confirmed to Teesside Live that the Ninja Warrior park was opening and will “share more details when we’re able to.”

The new obstacle course will be between Showcase Cinema and the former Millennium nightclub.

The chain’s website states the show is “both inspiring and aspirational” and parks are geared at different ages and levels of fitness.

“All of our venues are fun, safe and inclusive, enabling all participants to create their own Ninja Warrior UK journeys!”

In the meantime, those looking for something to do in Yorkshire can visit Robin Hood’s Bay – a car-free picturesque fishing village.

Or, if they are looking to get closer to the water, they can go to the “best beach” in the UK: Hunmanby Gap.

Yorkshire will also soon have the UK’s highest altitude lido, combined with a sauna and holiday lodges at the site.

Ninja Warrior UK and Teesside Retail Park have been approached for comment.

Ninja Warrior obstacle course: Rachel’s experience

US Sun reporter Rachel Dobkin wrote about her experience trying a course in New York.

She said she saw the course on Instagram and thought it looked great to try, but as the day got near she became more nervous.

She said: “We started out with some warmups and then Zack [the guide] went over every obstacle with us until we were comfortable doing the whole course.

“I was really shocked at how well I performed.

“The obstacles looked intimidating but I was able to complete them.

“It felt empowering to do something out of my comfort zone, especially since I’m not the most athletic person.

“It felt good to feel strong and now I’m excited to push myself more at the gym.
