Kylie Minogue has been nominated for International Artist of the Year at the upcoming BRIT Awards – the UK’s answer to the ARIAs or Grammys.
But the massive nod wasn’t enough for fans who have taken to social media to express their disappointment that the singer’s viral hit Padam Padam wasn’t among the nominees announced on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT).
As a hit both on the charts and across TikTok, the earworm that introduced our “singing budgie” to a legion of new fans across the globe – especially in the US – could have qualified for International Song of the Year.

Some fans are calling the snub ”an absolutely travesty”, as others threaten to “riot” in a range of posts peppering social media.
“Padam Padam not up for International Song. We riot,” one person posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

One person asked: “@BRITs do you know the song Padam Padam or do ya’ll live in Mars???????”
While another fan called for recognition of those working on the song behind the scenes.

“Yes, @kylieminogue has been nominated for International Artist, but what about some recognition for the Padam songwriters & producers?,” one person commented.
One fan called it “sacrilegious” for the song – which saw the word Padam added to the urban dictionary – to not be nominated.

It’s not all bad news for Kylie though, who has been announced as an honouree at the annual Billboard Women in Music event being held in March, just as she finishes up her Las Vegas residency.
British singer Raye leads this year’s BRIT Award nominations, scoring seven in total, including the coveted Artist of the Year category.

She’ll go up against Arlo Parks, Central Cee, Dave, Fred again.. , J Hus, Jessie Ware, Little Simz, Olivia Dean and Dua Lipa in the ceremony being held in London on March 2.
Lipa has scored three nominations in total, including Song of the Year for her Barbie hit Dance The Night and is the first performer of the night to be announced.
