‘That’s genius’, drivers say as they realise popular car has little-known hidden feature ideal when driving in winter

A YOUTUBER has revealed a clever feature hidden in a popular car that will help drivers get home on dark winter’s evenings.

The man – who goes by SimpleCarGuy – on the platform shocked drivers when he posted a demonstration video that has since racked up nearly 100,000 views.

The “genius” hack is dubbed the “follow me home light” and can be found in Fiat 500 car’s – a popular motor in the UK with more than 315,000 on the roads.

The light is designed to illuminate the area around the car for a set amount of time helping the driver to see where they’re going when they get out.

For example this could help them see the lock on their front door, or prevent them tripping on a step they didn’t spot.

SimpleCarGuy said: “The way it works is when you shut off the car you can push the brights lever away from you and then pull it towards yourself.

“Every pull you add another 30 seconds of your headlights staying on after you shut off the car.

“This is very useful if you work late and you would like to illuminate your driveway or the street while you’re walking to your house.”

The SimpleCarGuy also shared other useful tips in the video such as where to find a hidden tool box and how to know if your car door is open when you lock it.

The tool box can be found by sliding the driver’s seat forward and looking underneath.

And if you leave your car door open when you press the lock button it will blink to alert you.

Viewers appeared grateful for the tips, “I like the follow me home one. I didn’t know about that cool thanks!” wrote one.

“Thanks for sharing these!” said another.
