With the weather turning icy and temperatures plummeting this week, motorists are looking for ways to tackle the frosty weather.

TikTokThe simple method is a lifesaver in the colder months[/caption]
It comes after the Met Office said more than 40cm of snow may fall on high ground in north-west Scotland by the end of Friday.
A “cold plunge of Arctic air” has moved south across the whole country over the past few days, making it 5C to 6C lower than usual for this time of year.
The forecaster has already issued amber warnings for snow between 3pm on Wednesday and 6pm on Thursday in north-west Scotland and the Northern Isles.
With the freezing air swirling in the UK, Brits are trying out a number of hacks to beat the cold.
And one TikToker, posting under the username ‘Roadside Genius’, swears by a method, telling viewers it will solve all your winter nightmares.
He said: “I’m going to show you guys a trick that you can do to get your hood to pop up.”
The TikToker used an inflatable lockout bag and pushed it gently in the hood gap of his icy motor.
He then pumped it up slowly and eventually the hood makes a satisfying sound as it popped up.
The content creator added; “Now we can get in there and find some sort of latch!”
Of course, the handy method can also be used for frozen car doors.
As always, TikTokers were quick to weigh in with their opinions in the comments.
One wrote: “You taught me something.”
While another declared that “knowledge is power“.
This comes after a genius hack was revealed to instantly melt ice on a car’s windshield – and it costs just 30p.
And elsewhere, a winter survival kit has been revealed as an expert shared the essential items drivers should keep in their cars at all times.
Meanwhile, Youtuber Marc Rober also went viral for sharing his speedy four-step system to defog a windshield in no time.
However, drivers are urged that some trending car hacks could cost them £5,000 in fines or even result in a loss of licence.
One hack encourages drivers to ignore the Highway Code by not signalling property to overtake or avoid traffic.
