McGregor, 35, has packed on several pounds of muscle during his octagon hiatus – so much so that some MMA fans reckon he’ll never make lightweight again.

But upcoming foe Chandler believes Mac’s newly-acquired muscles won’t give him any physical benefit in their long-overdue showdown.

He said on his YouTube channel: “He is not stronger than me.

“So, I don’t need to gain weight, I don’t need to gain any more strength, I don’t need to do any more than what I’m already doing.

“The dude is not stronger than me. Go out there and show me a video of Conor McGregor lifting heavy, heavy weights.

“I actually looked before I got on this video; you can’t find any videos of this man lifting heavy, heavy weights.”

Former three-time Bellator lightweight champion Chandler was announced as the opponent for McGregor’s comeback last February.

The pair were slated to fight last December but their clash ended up being pushed back to 2024.

And McGregor recently claimed the duo – who we rival coaches on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter – will finally settle their score in June.

The former two-division champion said on social media on New Year’s Eve: “Ladies and gentlemen, a happy New Year to you all.

“I’d like to announce the return date for myself, The Notorious Conor McGregor for the greatest comeback of all time will take place in Las Vegas for International Fight Week on June the 29th.

“Come a little closer… and the opponent is Michael Chandler.

“And the weight, Mr Chandler 185 pounds.”

McGregor hasn’t set foot inside the cage since breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

Chandler, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since his third-round submission defeat to Poirier at UFC 281 in November 2022.
