Ford to re-release popular SUV with AI tech & ‘best-in-class’ towbar – all for a lower price than before

FORD has announced that it will re-release a popular SUV complete with new AI tech and a “best-in-class” tow bar, all for a lower price than before.

The motors giant says that they have “reinvented” the model, which has also undergone a facelift to give it a more “assertive” exterior.

The refreshed Kuga is set to offer a bevvy of new features and inspire drivers to “embrace the electric future” with an upgraded hybrid variant added to the lineup, shaving 0.8s off its already impressive 0-60 time.

The existing combustion models will remain, too, with tweaks to emissions and fuel economy specs to make them both more affordable and eco-friendly.

Tech perks are set to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing owners to connect up their smartphones, as well as Amazon Alexa functions.

These come as part of a new infotainment system which has seen the manufacturer take a similarly minimalist approach to EV rivals, with almost all the dashboard buttons replaced with an all-encompassing touchscreen.

The only “physical controls” remaining are the front-window demister, driving mode settings and rear-view camera, which will remain in button form.

Other fancy features include automatic braking on the adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera offering a birds-eye view of your own motor when you park.

In terms of hardware, the range adds a “best-in-class” towbar, which Ford claims can bear 2,100kg.

That’s 100kg more than the equivalent VW model and 600kg more than Kia’s version.

The towing upgrade comes with an additional sat nav feature that allows motorists to enter the dimensions of their trailer.

Ford’s new system will then automatically modify your route to avoid sharp turns or tight paths to prevent you from getting stuck.

All that comes at a lower price than the previous generation, with base model trimming £1,300 from its price tag, dropping down to £32,080.

It comes after an expert car salesman revealed the “best modern classic” you can buy this year for under £20,000.
