Built in 1960, this 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione boasts an incredible history as a successful race car that competed in a number of events – including the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.

An icon among motorsport fans, the 250 GT SWB is one of the most successful GT racers of all time and boasts nearly 250 victories in over 700 competition races.

These include wins at the 1960 and 1961 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as the 1961 and 1962 Tour de France.

This iteration’s record includes 14 podium finishes across 20 races as well as a 5th-place result in its class for its debut at the 1960 12 Hours of Sebring.

In 2014, the motor underwent a vigorous $1 million restoration which saw it entirely rebuilt.

Then, in 2023, it was submitted to the Ferrari Classiche department and was granted full Red Book certification after being recognised for its original numbered chassis, engine and rear axle, as well as the originality of its body.

According to the listing, it’s “eligible for some of the finest motoring events around the world” and has had a number of owners over the years who entered it into racing competitions.

Classic car collectors can get their hands on this piece of racing history at Rm Sotheby’s Paris auction on January 31, with the guide price ranging from £7.7million and £9.5million.

This comes after an ultra-rare Porsche 918, dubbed the “finest and most lavish” in existence, has also gone up for sale for £1.8 million.

The extremely cool supercar comes in a truly special shade of red that’s usually used by the German brand’s longtime rival Ferrari.

Elsewhere, an ‘experimental’ Lotus supercar watched by millions on Top Gear could be yours after being left to rot in a hangar for a number of years.
