The Italian flag carrier is set to launch flights from London City Airport to Rome Fiumicino later this year.
Twelve weekly flights will depart from Rome Fiumicino at 8.50am, arriving in London at 10.25am.
The flights will return to Rome at 11am, before arriving back in the city at 2.30pm.
Flights between the two cities will depart from April 1, 2024.
Sun Online Travel have found economy-class tickets, which include hand luggage, a checked bag, and a seat reservation, from £143 per person for a one-way trip.
According to a press release from the Italian tourism board, the new route has been introduced because of “significant demand from leisure and business travellers“.
The new route will be served by an Airbus A220-100 aircraft.
There are plenty of reasons to visit Rome too, including some of the city’s famous landmarks like The Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain.
Rome is also home to the Vatican City – an independent city-state located inside the Italian capital.
The Vatican City has plenty of attractions for holidaymakers, including St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel.
Additionally, the Italian airline is also introducing an extra flight from Milan Linate to London City.
Flights will start from April 10, 2024, which means ITA Airways will operate 31 flights between the two cities.
This isn’t the only airline launching flights between the UK and Italy this year.
Start-up airline, Aeroitalia, will operate a new route between London Southend Airport and Milan Bergamo later this year.
Six weekly flights will depart from Milan Bergamo at 9am, arriving in London Southend at 9.45am.
Flights between the two cities will depart from March 25, 2024, with fares starting from €79.99 (£68.95) for a one-way ticket.
Budget airline Ryanair will also add more flights to 30 routes from several UK airports, including Stansted, Luton and Gatwick.
One of those flights will operate to Treviso, a city in northeastern Italy, popular for its historic palaces, pretty canals and proximity to the Veneto Prosecco region.
Other airlines are also opening new routes from the UK to holiday destinations across the globe.
British Airways will be resuming flights from London Stansted for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The flag carrier has confirmed that three new routes will depart from the London airport, with prices starting at £36 for a one-way ticket.
Budget airline Ryanair is launching flights to Spain, Portugal, and Malta, from Norwich Airport.
As it stands, the airport only serves a handful of foreign destinations, which means the Ryanair expansion is great news for holidaymakers in East Anglia.
