But Spurs chief Ange Postecoglou does have the option to acquire his services permanently for £15million should he take his fancy.

After teasing his arrival on social media, Spurs announced the signing of the 27-year-old – who will wear the No.16 shirt – on their official website.

An excerpt of a club statement read: “We are delighted to announce the signing of Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig, subject to international clearance.

“The Germany international will join the Club on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

“He will wear the number 16 shirt.”
