The chain’s vegan sausage rolls aren’t going anywhere either
Greggs has announced the return of the much-loved vegan steak bake to shops nationwide from tomorrow, in time for Veganuary.
Much to the delight of the UK’s vegans, flexitarians and general pastry fans, the bake is making a comeback from Thursday, January 4, priced from just £2.
The return follows pleas from fans across social media who have been missing the vegan steak bake dearly since the bake came off the menu over two years ago.
The vegan steak bake first launched in January 2020, as a sequel to the hugely successful vegan sausage roll which launched a year earlier.
For those looking to get their Greggs fix this Veganuary, there is a whole range of other vegan-friendly items available for customers to enjoy including the iconic vegan sausage roll, glazed ring doughnut, sweet potato and onion bhaji rice box, and southern fried potato wedges.
The retailer also offers a variety of vegan breakfast options, including the vegan sausage breakfast roll and hash browns.
Retailers often cash in on the popularity of vegan food in January as shoppers look to clean up their diets with a New Year health kick.
For example, Greggs’ hugely successful vegan sausage roll was first launched in January 2019.
The bakery chain saw sales rise by 14.7% in the first six months of the same year, crediting the vegan version of its popular treat for the increase.
It looks like Greggs is trying to recreate some of that magic this January with the return of another vegan fan favourite.
