ATLETICO MADRID have joined the race to sign Mason Greenwood.
The Spanish giants are set to battle Barcelona for the Manchester United winger, according to reports in Spain.
Atletico Madrid have joined the race to sign Mason GreenwoodRex
Greenwood is currently on loan in LaLiga with Getafe, scoring five goals and providing four assists across all competitions so far this season.
His form has seen a host of Spanish clubs linked with signing him, with Atletico the latest potential destination.
Marca report, via Estadio Deportivo, that the club have held talks with United as they step up their pursuit.
Their interest comes after Barca, Valencia and Real Sociedad were all linked with a move for Greenwood.
SunSport understand that Barcelona are even willing to offer the 22-year-old Lionel Messi’s iconic No10 shirt to convince him to join.
The Spanish champions have been scouting Greenwood for Getafe this season ahead of a potential £40million approach.
His goals have helped his side to eighth in the table after 18 matches, just five points adrift of the European places.
Manager Jose Bordalas praised the forward this week, explaining: “Greenwood is a different player, with a lot of talent but in this football talent is not the main thing. It takes more work than talent.”
