I’m an expert car salesman – you should buy these ‘modern classics’ now… they will soar in value in years to come

A CAR EXPERT has revealed five “modern classics” that are well worth snapping up – as he predicts they’ll soar in value in the next few years.

James Russell of the motoring group Motor Grid sells modern classic cars to enthusiasts, and he took to his TikTok channel to reveal his selection of motors that he thinks you should consider buying.

Honda S2000

Described as an “unapologetic driver’s car”, Honda‘s iconic front-mid engine open top roadster rolled off the production line for the final time in 2009.

With its stunning design and “reliable Honda engine”, James believes the value of the S2000 “will increase significantly in the next three years.”

Lotus Elise S1

The Lotus Elise is a gem of the late 1990s and early 2000s, and is perhaps the car that saved Lotus after the expensive and ill-fated production of the Elan M100.

These days, James says the modern classic is “the car to have” but warns potential buyers that the “good ones are getting harder to find.”

Audi RS4 Avant B7

This iconic Audi is described by James as a “giant of a car”.

However, if you’re looking for a banker, James says buyers should “ideally avoid the ones that have been modified” and to make sure it’s “completely OEM”.

Ford Racing Puma

Before its days as a crossover SUV, the Puma was a stylish coupe built by Ford between 1997 and 2002.

However, the Racing Puma was a breed of its own; with only 500 ever sold to customers.

Designed to rival the impressive Subaru Impreza, the Racing Puma utilised technology that Ford learned directly from its race and rally programmes.

Today, its scarcity and lack of demand when brand new has seen the motor increase in value over the standard Puma.

Audi R8

The original Audi R8, with its V8 engine and gated manual gearbox, could be worth a fortune in the near future.

According to James, the stunning sports car has soared in value in recent years.

He said: “Only two years ago you would see really good ones for about £30,000, but those really good ones now are more like £40,000!”

This comes after an R8 was found abandoned and “rotting” outside an empty house before its mind-blowing restoration.

The luxury motor was uncovered in an epic ‘barn find’ by YouTubers at WD Detailing.

Elsewhere, Vladimir Putin’s favourite ‘off-road icon’ – a rare Russian-made Lada Niva – is available to buy.

However, the 4×4 – with just 500 miles on the clock – may be most expensive of its kind in UK.
