THE plane cabin is full of buttons and gadgets, many of which passengers are aware of.
But there is a hidden one above you that could save your life in a dangerous situation onboard.

Above every seat is the passenger service unit (PSU), which is where most of the instructions from crew come from.
This includes the call bell and seatbelt sign, as well as the call bell and air conditioning vent.
However, there is a little button on there which could save your life.
According to flight website Simple Flying: “This is also where the seatbelt sign is seen and where oxygen masks would fall from during a decompression.
“If they do not fall, cabin crew can use the pin on their name badge to open them.”
In an emergency, passengers will need oxygen masks until the pilot can drop to a lower altitude where travellers can breathe normally.
Oxygen masks can last up to 15 minutes – and so if they don’t drop, the button could save your life in an emergency.
Otherwise pilots also have their own system in the cockpit which lets them deploy the masks manually.
Just make sure you put it on correctly – an image went viral in 2018 after an entire cabin were caught wearing them wrong.
The oxygen masks are meant to be worn over the mouth and nose, not just the mouth.
There are lots of other secret buttons in the cabin you may not be aware of.
One is the button underneath the aisle seat armrest.
By pressing it, the arm rest can be lifted up, giving more room and making it easier to get in and out.
Another hidden button is found on the door of the plane toilet.
Most bathrooms in the cabin have a sign on the front, reading “lavatory”.
They also have a secret switch underneath them, which lets crew unlock the door from the outside in an emergency.
