Very rare high-performance Volvo bought brand new & then abandoned for 24 years is rescued from barn

AN EXTREMELY rare and high-performance Volvo has finally been rescued from an old, battered barn after 24 years.

The red Volvo 850 R was left abandoned and sitting in pools of water despite it being bought brand new by its old rich owner.

When it was first spotted in the barn – over two decades after it was hidden away – the car was covered in mud and degraded cardboard on its windows and littered with decaying leaves and rubbish.

According to the man in charge of the restoration process, the roof to the barn was about to fall in and a whole load of water and dirt was constantly falling onto the motor from above.

He can be heard saying: “This car is immaculate, super low mileage but it’s been stored for over two decades in a collapsed barn and this is the result.”

Inside the destroyed motor, the creator who filmed the whole Volvo’s revamp – IMSTOKZE – revealed that it had only done 60,188miles so barely fulfilled it’s once thriving potential.

The Volvo still had a slight glimmer of hopeful red paint on the outside but up close the dodgy effects of a waterlogged barn was revealed.

Some of the paint had begun to blister and show on the car’s shell making for a less than pretty sight especially when IMSTOKZE literally squeezed the spots and made water fly out of them.

But on the inside it was wet, filthy and horrible.

Litter had been strewn around the front seats, back seats and boot with seemingly never ending dust having taken over the dashboard and windows.

The front windshield was again caped in mud and leaves meaning not only was there hardly light coming in but also barely any visibility able to go out.

The leather back seats were literally rotting with all the damp filth they had endured for decades and were now a mixture of moulding patches of white and brown stains of dirt.

And an actual puddle had been left behind in the back seats that created a horror stench of wet leather and old fuel.

Shockingly one of the finds inside the car was an entire carpet that was thrown on the passenger seat and clearly forgotten about much like the motor itself.

Even though the car was clearly left in a horrible condition and worse for wear IMSTOKZE did praise Volvo for the structural quality of the build. especially in the boot where it was still pretty clean outside of general dust and mess.

He can be heard saying: “Look at it, there’s hardly any rot at all, anywhere. It’s just a testament to the build quality of Volvo, in other cars there wouldn’t be nothing left.

“You could drive it round with the swimming pool in the back and it wouldn’t affect it.”

A resurrection project is now underway to return the motor to its heyday and get it back on the roads.

The Volvo of this kind has a 2.4-litre, five-pot engine, large Garrett turbo, big intercooler and a revised engine management system taking the power to a whopping 250bhp.
