Diong, 17, was pictured standing with Kendry Paez at the Blues’ stadium.

He watched on as Mauricio Pochettino‘s side beat the Magpies after a penalty shootout.

Callum Wilson had given the visitors the lead in the 16th minute before Mykhailo Mudryk netted a late equaliser.

A deal to take him from his current side Senegal outfit AF Darou Salam to Chelsea is “almost done”, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The report claims that Diong will join the club in June next year when he is 18.

The Senegalese prospect plays as a defensive midfielder.

He featured four times for the nation’s U17 side at the Fifa U-17 World Cup earlier last month.

The towering ace helped his side progress to the round of 16 thanks to wins over Argentina and Poland.

However, Senegal’s youngsters were knocked out by France after a penalty shootout.

Diong missed his side’s second spot-kick in the shootout which turned out to be the one that cost his team a place in the quarter-finals.

The midfielder’s potential arrival continues with Chelsea’s current policy of signing promising young stars.

Paez, 16, joined Chelsea in a £17.5million transfer but can not play for the club until 2025, when he turns 18.
