FUMING drivers have blasted “parking vigilantes” issuing fake tickets in a Scots neighbourhood.
Fed up locals in Edinburgh have been placing stickers on windscreens in an attempt to deter non-residents from stopping on Westfield Street in Gorgie.

The spoof tickets, which are designed in a similar style to penalty charge notices, read: “You have parked on private land without permission.
“Your vehicle registration number has been recorded and a photo taken.
“Further action will be necessary if you continue to park here.
“Please do not park here again.”
Taking to Reddit, one puzzled local wrote: “Does anyone know where they can park in Gorgie now? This was left on the cars of Westfield Street.
“If residents are unable to park outside their own street where else in the local area can they park without forking out stupid amounts of money?”
Other motorists flocked to the comments to reassure the poster that the tickets are fake.
One person wrote: “That isn’t real and can be ignored. A resident has taken it upon themselves to try and stop people parking there for whatever reason.”
Another said: “Unlikely an official ticket wouldn’t have the name of the issuing body on it, no means of contact and a vague threat of ‘further action’.”
A third weighed in: “You can get 20 of these for a tenner of Amazon.
“You’ve got a parking vigilante in the neighbourhood.”
A fourth fumed: “Vandalising people’s cars isn’t excusable in any circumstances.”
Other motorists defended the actions of the culprit and agreed that parking is a “nightmare” in the neighbourhood.
One person said: “There’s a lot of pressure on that little area, and it’ll make it very difficult for its residents to get parked. Can’t really blame them for trying to deter non-resident parking.”
Another added: “I live close by and it’s just a case of getting a permit. If you don’t live on the street, don’t park on it I suppose.”
Councillor Scott Arthur, Transport and Environment Convener, said: “The tickets being left on cars on Westfield Street are not issued by the Council and therefore are not official fines – we would discourage this kind of behaviour.
“Westfield Street is not currently within the Controlled Parking Zone. Should restrictions extend to the West of the current boundary in Gorgie then the Council will discuss the inclusion of the street in the CPZ with residents.”
