Richard Hammond’s ‘secret lair’ full of classic motorcycles & cars as fans spot relic from iconic Top Gear episode

TOP GEAR legend Richard Hammond has given fans a tour of his ‘secret lair’ filled with classic cars and motorcycles.

The TV presenter has an incredible collection that he keeps stored away in a barn – and fans are even able to spot a couple of iconic motors used in old episodes of Top Gear.

Opening the doors to his barn for viewers of DriveTribe’s YouTube channel, Hammond, 53, says: “This is my secret lair, where I keep the overspill from my cars and bikes that I can’t keep at home.”

While the barn is emptier than expected, which Hammond explains is due to him being forced to sell a handful of his cars – including a Porsche, Lotus and Bentley – to fund his classic car restoration businessThe Smallest Cog, plenty of beauties still remain, including his prized Ford Mustang.

The stunning American motor, which Hammond says he ‘adores’, still has its original Highland Green paintjob and is ‘part of the furniture’ of his life.

Next to the Mustang are two classic Jaguars – a beautiful XK150 and the shell of a XK120.

The XK150 comes in Dove Grey and boasts a gorgeous red interior, while the XK120 is part of some future ‘big plans’.

Hammond is known for his love of bikes and his barn collection includes a ‘future classic’ Ducati alongside a Harley-Davidson owned by his wife, as well as a cool Suzuki GSX-R1100 – which he says ‘is awful’ but he loves it.

In the corner of the barn is a 1972 Buick Riviera which featured in an episode of The Grand Tour.

Hammond says the luxury classic underwent some choice modifications on the show, and plans to let DriveTribe’s viewers decide what happens to it next.

Perhaps the most poignant motor in the barn is gorgeous blue MGB GT – the last car Hammond ever drove on Top Gear.

In the comments, fans were touched to know Hammond owns a couple of cars previously seen on the legendary show.

One wrote: “Gosh, that hit me a bit.”

And another said: “When he said it’s the last car he drove on Top Gear, that really hit hard.”

A third wrote: “I’ve always wondered what happened to the Mustang that appeared on Top Gear as Hammond’s own car.”

This comes after a stunning vintage Porsche owned by legendary Star Wars actor Ewan McGregor hits auction.
