Cheapest place to buy mince pies this week as supermarkets start price war before Xmas – and they cost from 18p

CHRISTMAS is almost here and grocery shopping for the festivities is well underway.

One of the most bought products at this time of year are the traditional mince pies, with people loving their delicious filling and tasty pastry top.

But with so many different types being sold by just as many supermarkets, it’s hard to know which one’s to get.

Luckily for you, we’ve compiled a list of the best and cheapest mince pies you can buy as the perfect festive treat.

But remember, these prices are subject to change at any time, especially at this time of year, so it’s advised that you also do your own research.

You can use the price comparison site Trolley.co.uk to check the online prices of items across different supermarkets.

We did all of our price checking online, so you also want to bear in mind that you might get a better offer in the actual store.

Here is a list of the best deals we found on mince pies including who is the cheapest.

Aldi

Aldi’s Holly Lane deep-filled mince pies are the joint-fourth cheapest you’ll be able to find across the UK, at just £1.09 for a pack of six.

This works out at 18p each and they’re available to buy both online and in-store.

However, they were even cheaper earlier this month when Aldi slashed prices down to just 55p for a limited time only – working out at just 9p per pie.

Tesco

Tesco also sell their cheapest pack of six mince pies for just £1.09 after deciding to price match with Aldi.

However, they may be slightly different because they are Tesco’s own brand, but these festive favourites are just as cheap and delicious nonetheless.

Tesco are also flogging Iced Topped Mince Pies for £2 and their own Finest Mince Pies for £3 – although they are half the price with a Clubcard.

Asda

Asda come in as the third supermarket with the joint-fourth cheapest pack of six mince pies at £1.09.

Specialised in their own bakery, these mince pies won two awards in recent years – the Good Housekeeping Christmas Award in 2022 and a Christmas Q Award highly commended in 2020.

But Asda also offers their own “Extra Special” range of mince pies which are priced at £2.75 each, including Chocolate & Cherry Crumble, Brown Butter & Rum and Frangipane & Amaretto flavours.

Lidl

Lidl are the fourth and final supermarket to offer a pack of six mince pies for £1.09 this Christmas.

The German supermarket sell their own Favorina Mince Pies – which also come in a 12 pack for £2.15 – but they can only be bought instore.

Also on offer are a six pack of Deluxe Luxury Mince Pies for £2.19, a 12 pack of Deluxe Luxury Mini Mince Pies for £2.29 and six Deluxe Crumble Top Flavoured Mince Pies for £2.49.

Iceland

Your next cheapest pack of six mince pies after Aldi, Tesco, Asda and Lidl can be found at Iceland for a slightly more expensive £1.25.

With an average star rating of 4.5 from 241 reviews, these are certainly in the running for some of the best tasting mince pies this Christmas.

Furthermore, Iceland are also offering a 3 for £3 deal, which would see a pack of six reduce in price to just £1 – and 16p per mince pie.

Morrisons

Next up is Morrisons, where you will find a pack of six mince pies for £1.45 – working out at 24p each.

This is still an encouraging deal for mince pie shoppers and will hardly break the bank, although there is also an offer of a Mince Pie & Cream Bundle for £2.

Like Asda, Morrison also offers their own range of mince pies which are priced at £2.50 each, which includes Tiramisu Tarts and Cherry Bakewell flavours.

Sainsbury’s

Last up is Sainsbury’s, who offer their cheapest pack of six mince pies at £1.60, meaning they cost 27p each and are a whole 51 more expensive than those at Aldi, Tesco, Asda and Lidl.

If you have a Nectar card, however, you can get them down to £1.45, although this still isn’t cheaper than Morrisons.

Sainsbury’s also stock their own brand of Taste The Difference mince pies for £2.75, where you can try Frangipane and Cherry Kirsch flavours.
