Stunned Man Utd fans say ‘what is he watching?’ as Erik ten Hag reacts to Champions League elimination

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have been left stunned by Erik ten Hag’s reaction to being knocked out of the Champions League.

United finished bottom of Group A for the first time since 2005/06, having only picked up four points from their six matches.

To make matters worse, the club made history by becoming the first English side to concede 15 goals in the group stages.

Ten Hag, however, was happy with the team’s performance against Bayern at Old Trafford.

He claimed that they did not “deserve” to lose the match but did lament his options in attack.

Ten Hag told TNT Sports: “We didn’t lose it [the Champions League group stage] today.

“We had some good performances, but we made some mistakes, individual errors from players.

“In the end, it’s not good enough, but I think today, the performance was very good, and we didn’t deserve to lose.

“That’s clear [no depth on the bench]. A big compliment to the team against this good Bayern side.

“We needed energy from the bench. The options on the front line were limited.”

United supporters were left stunned by the Dutchman’s comments as they flocked to social media.

One fan slammed: “That’s the worst comment vs performance in football this calender year. Delusional.”

A second commented: “What game was he watching? Did Neuer make a save?”

A third wrote: “If you call that performance good, then it shows his standards are dropping way lower than the bare minimum.”

A fourth said: “That’s a worrying comment..”

A fifth added: “Why does he keep calling these things good performances? For real, why?”

Man United face Liverpool in the Premier League and will be hoping to earn back some support with a win.
