Disney+ fans warned their subscription cost will go up by a third from TODAY unless they make simple switch

DISNEY+ users have been warned their subscription cost will increase from today unless they downgrade their package.

The streaming giant made changes to its plans last month, with access to the full bells and whistles costing £3 extra a month.

Price changes were announced last month

So far, only new subscribers have been affected.

But now existing customers will have to fork out more too.

Disney provides an option to downgrade to the new Standard plan which remains at £7.99 a month but with fewer perks – so no 4K and only two concurrent streams per household.

For customers who didn’t switch, the new billing cycle started from December 6 onwards and they are automatically moved onto the more expensive tier.

So Disney+ subscribers may want to check their account to ensure they’re happy with the plan they’re on.

The new Premium plan – what was previously the only tier available – now costs £10.99.

Cheaper ad tier

Disney+’s recent subscription restructure has seen the introduction of a cheaper plan as well – if you are prepared to watch adverts.

Users can expect an average of four minutes of adverts per hour.

And fortunately the ads only appear at the beginning, so no interruptions during a film.

There’s also a Junior Mode so that children’s content remains ad-free.

Standard with Ads is available for £4.99 per month.

But you can’t download movies and shows to watch on your devices without a Wi-Fi connection.
