Posting on TikTok (@indi_van_a_jones), the van driver revealed the cutbacks he’d made in order to better himself financially.

And after going through a long list of bills he no longer pays for, fellow social media users were stunned at the benefits of his change in lifestyle.

Detailing how he saves such a large amount of money each month, the TikToker said: “Granted, I still pay £12 a month there or thereabouts for gas – electric is totally free in a van.

“There’s rent, general bills, council tax, TV licensing – don’t need any of that.

“General furniture I don’t need much of as you tend to find you look after stuff when you’re living in a van.

“I save, on average, £1,200-£1,500 a month living in my van.”

The video gained a lot of mixed reactions, with some people struggling to understand whether having to live in the van was worth it.

But for those looking to implement a similar lifestyle themselves, the motor expert was happy to provide advice to anyone asking.

In response to one person who asked what to do with their own van, he said: “Sound deadening is way more important then its said,” before adding that they should “insulate the roof.”

He also claimed that his long-term goal was to save enough money for an early retirement and a bigger van.

In a separate video, however, he also added how collecting free wood from IKEA provides him with everything he needs.

Situated at the “returns” area, he claims that his latest addition will help him to make his drawers.

In response to another commenter, he said the free wood “definitely helps those creative types or those in need.”

Elsewhere, another TikToker has shown viewers on his channel the upsides of living in a van instead of a house.

Richard Monkton took his TikTok subscribers on a tour of his home which happens to be in his van.

And a woman who transformed her van into a tiny home on wheels has revealed the cheap buy, as well as the tips and tricks, that she swears by when it’s frosty outside.

Alyssa Jo, who is also known as “the solo travel gal”, shared how to keep warm on a budget this winter.
