TikToker adventuresofthewests said their plumber shared the hack with them.

They reckon the trick – which lowers the temperature of water going into radiators – will save them around £65 on their annual energy bill.

She added: “This doesn’t even affect the temperature of my home it just means the radiators take a tiny bit longer to heat up.”

Her calculations suggest savings of 3 percent on an energy bill of around £2,200 per year.

EDF energy confirm the trick will reduce energy usage without dropping the temperature of your home.

But they warn the hack may not be for everybody.

They explained: “If you’re more vulnerable to the cold having a higher flow temperature can help to get your home up to the correct temperature more quickly.”

There are other ways to heat your home for less.

Draught proofing windows and doors could save you £30 a year in lost heat.

Putting foil behind your radiators could see you keep another £20 while blocking the chimney may save £17 a year.
