Maldini, 55, has two sons who are also professional footballers paving their own careers.
The former AC Milan star made 647 Serie A appearances for the club winning the competition seven times.
He also won the Champions League three times as well as two European Cups before the tournament was re-branded.
Sons Daniel and Christian however are yet to achieve a similar success.
Christian, 27, started his youth career at AC Milan but never made a first-team appearance for the club.
Like his father, he played as a central defender although he has struggled to make it in the top division.
Christian has played for Italian sides in the lower leagues such as Reggiana, Pro Sesto, Fondi, Pro Piancenza, Fano and Lecco.
He retired from football in September this year in order to pursue a career as a football agent.

He has already made 15 appearances for AC Milan and has scored for the Italian giants.

Daniel has not cemented himself in the club’s first-team as of yet and spent last season out on loan at Spezia.
He made 18 appearances in Serie A for the club, scoring two goals.
His first goal for the club came in a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan, his other goal however came in a 2-1 win over Inter Milan.
The midfielder is spending this campaign at Empoli, however, the club does have an option to make the move permanent.
The campaign has been a tough one for Daniel as he has struggled with muscular problems which has limited him to just three appearances.
He has featured for Italy at the U18s, U19, and U20s but he could opt to represent Venezuela on the international stage through his mother Adrianna Fossa.
