The budget supermarket has released the new fast food alternatives in time for Christmas.

The Double Cheese Burger and Chicken Burger Southern Fried are the latest additions to the brand’s “fakeaway” range.

The former consists of two beef patties and sliced cheese inside a pillowy brioche bun, while the latter contains two crispy chicken tenders topped with iceberg lettuce and velvety mayo on a sesame-topped roll.

The items were described as a “game-changer” by experts over at LatestDeals.

And they are an astonishing 69% cheaper than the already saver-friendly equivalents from the golden arches.

They can be picked up alongside the Takeaway Style French Fries at just £1.49 for a pack of two to give a true Maccies experience.

The fries even have similar packaging to the iconic red box that houses the real deal.

And Aldi has also released a number of other versions of iconic McDonald’s menu items, including chicken nuggets, a Big Stack burger and hash browns.

Indeed, earlier this year, The Sun’s own Ellie Smitherman taste tested some of what was on offer and came away satisfied.

Reviewing the fries she wrote: “Chips can be tricky to replicate at home, particularly in the oven but these did pretty well despite this – but were a tad soggy.

“I did enjoy that the box came with two little cardboard pouches, just to give diners that McDonald’s feel.

“Each box comes with two servings and they’re pretty generous portions, similar to a medium size at Maccies.

“They would have been a bit more enjoyable if they were more firm and crispy but they tasted pretty similar to the real thing.”

It comes after an expert revealed the most valuable Christmas items that you could have sitting in your attic.

Meanwhile, a huge budget retailer is set to reopen seven Wilko stores under a new name.
