BECKHAM has been named as the best sports documentary of all time despite only coming out last month.
The Netflix series was watched by the masses as fans got a sneak peek into the life of one football’s biggest icons.

And in a nation that has been idolising David Beckham since his Manchester United days, it’s no surprise his documentary has come out on top.
Research conducted by Betfair to celebrate the launch of their new mini-documentary Serial Winners revealed that Beckham was the country’s top pick for sports documentaries.
The show beat out stiff competition including Pele, Welcome to Wrexham and the hugely popular basketball documentary The Last Dance.
And it would appear that people all over the country are enjoying sitting down in front of the TV to re-live sport’s greatest moments more than ever.
The poll showed that each person has watched an average of TEN sports docs with some even sitting through over 30 of them.
It’s not just sports fans that are sticking it on the box either with 60 per cent of people who don’t like sport admitting to really enjoying watching a sports documentary.
The second most popular film according to the research was Senna which tells the the heartbreaking tragedy of Formula One driver Ayrton Senna’s untimely passing.
While football’s Hollywood duo Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds sneaked into third spot with their Wrexham AFC docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham.

Some of football’s most iconic players also got their credit with documentaries about the likes of Pele, Diego Maradona and Paul Gascoigne all making the top 20.
And shows and movies about an array of other sports have been hugely popular too including cricket, cycling, tennis, snooker and even cheerleading.
In fact 36 per cent of people polled said that they have tuned into a show about a sport they’re not particularly interested in.
And an incredible 16 per cent of people actually prefer watching a documentary over sitting through the live sport itself.
