First Premier League boss calls for other teams to face ‘bigger punishments’ after Everton deducted ten points

SHEFFIELD UNITED boss Paul Heckingbottom called for other Prem giants to be punished following Everton’s 10-point deduction.

The Toffees dropped to 19th after being found guilty of breaking financial rules, moving the Blades up one place to 18th.

Manchester City and Chelsea are waiting nervously given they could be hit with even bigger penalties – including relegation.

City were slapped with 115 Financial Fair Play charges in January while Chelsea are under investigation over transfers during Roman Abramovich’s reign.

And Hecky said: “It’s opened the door to other sanctions.

“We can’t just have one team punished, we need more if there have been breaches.

“The rules are there for a reason and they should be imposed, otherwise what’s the point?

“Everton will feel hard done by because it’s the first and the biggest punishment we’ve had in the Premier League, so that will only be seen as justifiable if others follow suit with bigger punishments.”

Sheffield United host fellow strugglers Bournemouth on Saturday on the back of four points against Wolves and Brighton.

After Everton joined them in the mire, Heckingbottom added: “While it initially knocks them down, they’ve shown they are more than capable of working their way out of it.

“We just hope we finish above them!”

Heckingbottom’s side are just a point adrift of safety following Everton’s points penalty.

The Blades are hoping to avoid an immediate return to the Championship following promotion last season.
