Zahara Jolie-Pitt drops ‘Pitt’ from name during sorority induction

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s eldest daughter, Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt, dropped ‘Pitt’ from her name during her Spelman College sorority induction.

In a clip posted to Instagram the young star can be seen standing in front of her fellow Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority sisters and performing her induction.

”My name is Zahara Marley Jolie,” the 18-year-old says.

“And [I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California.”

Her induction into the first historically Black sorority is welcomed by cheers and applause as the actress walked away from the centre of the stage.

Despite the moment going over quite smoothly in the clip, online users later noted the name exclusion.

Jolie adopted Zahara – as well as her son Maddox – before her relationship with Pitt, but once their love blossomed he later adopted them both as well, and the pair went on to have another four kids from 2006 to 2008.

“That may also be because Pitt is not her legal name,” one commenter attempted to reason. “Angela Jolie was single when she was adopted.”

Jolie, 48, and Pitt, 59, split seven years ago, the exes awarded joint custody of their six children after a lengthy custody battle.

In August last year, the Maleficent actress announced her daughter’s plans to attend university.

“Zahara with her Spelman sisters!” she captioned the celebratory Instagram post weeks before the move-in date.

The snap featured Zahara alongside fellow Spelman undergraduates.

“Congratulations to all new students starting this year,” Jolie continued.

“A very special place and an honuor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl,” Jolie added.
