Fans watching the action unfold on centre court voiced their support for the Italian throughout, while Djokovic faced the brunt of a hostile reception.
However, the 24-time Grand Slam winner responded by revelling in the hostility and conducting the crowd.
Fans took to X to react, with one person writing: “This disrespectful crowd here in Torino are so naive. Every time the boos come out, Djokovic takes it and turns it into his fuel. Y’all don’t learn .”
Another commented: “Well done Novak Djokovic. Don’t let it get to you. Those people who boo you will never understand anything about tennis and life.”
A third wrote: “Djokovic doing that thing where he tries his very best to get the whole crowd against him and boo.”
A fourth fan added: “Only a genius like @DjokerNole would create a symphony out of the jeers and boos of haters. Don’t be like the haters: be like Djokovic.”
While a fifth said: “I’m 100% convinced people who boo Djokovic during matches are actually fans and they just want to watch him to switch into THAT gear and drop a I’m HIM performance.”
After the match, Sinner admitted that he was thrilled with the result.
