I’m a fashion stylist – the 20p item I always pack when travelling with hand luggage

A FASHION stylist who often travels for her job has revealed some of her top packing tips – and one will cost you just 20p.

Alexa Pontello, from LA, is an expert when it comes to packing light, while not scrimping on clothes.

A fashion expert has revealed her top 5 packing tips

Alexa explained why you should always pack a 20p plastic bag

In a recent video, she explained how she still managed to travel only with hand luggage, while packing everything she needed.

She explained on TikTok that the first thing you should always do is roll your clothes.

She said: “You can put it in line with all the other stuff that’s rolled, or you can shove this into the really small areas of your suitcase and utilize all of the surface area.”

One item she always packs? A travel steamer.

Alexa continued: “I really don’t go anywhere without this thing and I highly recommend buying a really good one”.

But her bargain hack is to always pack a plastic bag – especially if going to a hot country.

Alexa explained: “If you are travelling somewhere where it’s hot and you’re going to be in the ocean and going to have wet clothing, I hate repacking and having to put anything wet back into my suitcase.

“So I like to bring one emergency bag that I can put my wet clothing in.”

A plastic bag can be bought for as little as 20p at the supermarket, and is a great way to reuse them.

Her other tips include only packing “three pairs of neutral shoes” too.

Alexa isn’t the only person to swear by taking a plastic bag.

Flight attendant Valerie backed this, saying she always takes one too.

She told Insider: “A plastic bag is the most versatile item you can travel with.

“Leaky cosmetics? Solved. A bathing suit that’s still wet from a dip in the ocean? No problem.

“Filthy shoes from a hike? A plastic bag allows you to isolate them from your other items.”

And a man who has travelled the world has revealed the 1-2-3-4-5-6 packing rule.

Daniel Green, who also owns a travel insurance company, explained: “Pack one hat, two pairs of shoes, three bottoms, four tops, five pairs of socks, and six pairs of underwear.”
