ERIK TEN HAG has been banned for one game after falling victim to new rules designed to curb dissent.
The Manchester United boss picked up a third yellow card of the season when he protested at a decision late on in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Luton.
Erik ten Hag has landed a one-game touchline ban after his protests against lowly Luton earned him his third booking of the campaignGetty
Football chiefs cut the number of bookings needed for a touchline suspension from four to three over the summer.
So Ten Hag will be absent from the dugout at Everton on November 26 when United resume Premier League action after the international break.
The Dutchman was cautioned amid a nervy finale at Old Trafford as the Red Devils held onto a 59th-minute lead given them by Victor Lindelof.
The centre-back drilled his first goal for three years after starting ahead of Raphael Varane as replacement for the injured Jonny Evans.
And Ten Hag will surely be more worried by two more injuries than his own single-game ban.
Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund were forced off as United went seventh by holding on for victory.
Nonetheless, Ten Hag told the BBC: “It is a good day. We needed the win and we got it.
“We could make life more easy by scoring early on and getting a second.
“I am happy with the clean sheet. We had many chances before half time and you should net one of them.
“After half time, get the second and then the game is gone.
“Now you keep them alive and they can get an equaliser from balls dropping in the wrong place.”
