Man Utd whip fans into frenzy as they hint ‘the real Goat’ wonderkid will play against Luton

MANCHESTER UNITED fans were whipped into a frenzy after a social media post appeared to hint at a long-awaited return for wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been sidelined since a pre-season clash against Real Madrid in July when he suffered an ankle injury.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating his return to senior team action amid the club’s struggles.

And a social media post from Man Utd featuring the youngster has given fans hope he will play against Luton – before he was named on the bench for the game.

One fan said: “Play my Starboy.”

A second said: “I hope he gets some minutes today.”

A third said: “Let Kobbie start today.”

Another said: “Let him play.”

While a fifth added: “Kobby deserves some minutes today.”

Mainoo was back in action for the Red Devils’ Under-19 side against Copenhagen in the Uefa Youth League in late October.

The teen also impressed when playing against Salford for the Red Devils’ in an U21 clash in the EFL Cup last week.

He had impressed in pre-season against Arsenal before his devastating injury.

The English midfielder made his Red Devils debut under Erik ten Hag last season in a January FA Cup clash with Reading.

Fans were left stunned to learn that rivals Manchester City were reportedly planning a shock move to land Mainoo.

Mainoo had chosen to join the Man Utd Academy over Man City’s at the age of nine, though City have tried to lure him to their club on numerous occasions since.
